Channeling My Inner Mayan Princess

We went to Coba, once one of the largest Mayan trading centers in the Yucatan.  Not as developed as Tulum and Chichen Itza, it has winding pathways that snake through the jungle, past the temple, ball court and pyramids as well as by the ancient sacbes or white roads that once connected Coba to other major Mayan cities such as Chichen Itza some 80 miles away.  You can walk these paths, rent bikes or go by way of the Mayan equivalent of rickshaws which is what I did, traveling fast underneath the trees whose branches create an interlocking canopy above the road.
